New B2B chemical products marketplace: CheMondis

Chemical company Lanxess has launched Chemondis, a new online marketplace for chemical goods. It is set up as a cross-manufacturer and cross-dealer B2B platform on which products can be bought and sold.

As the chemical market supports all other industries, with the special account for pharmaceuticals, finding reliable suppliers can be time-consuming and making sure your goods are being found can be challenging. CheMondis is designed to connect suppliers and sellers operating in different chemical sectors to help improve procurement efficiency, sales pricing and volumes.

The marketplace allows sellers to trade all kinds of chemicals including commodity base chemicals, general applications, and speciality chemicals.

In the development of CheMondis, we have consistently focused on the needs and wishes of our customers. The result is a highly modern and reliable online marketplace where chemical products can be traded. After only a few weeks, more than 200 companies have already registered. Here we are combining profound knowledge from the chemicals industry, a start-up spirit, and a high level of technical expertise.”
-Sebastian Brenner, managing director of CheMondis

Some 83% of the EU chemical sales are made between seven out 28 EU countries. The marketplace aims to break language and geographical barriers by making their services available soon in German, French, Spanish and Italian version.

CheMondis are also planning to partner with other tech solution experts and introduce online product selectors, which are aimed at helping customers find the right product for its production.

Developing new business models is an important element of the Lanxess digitalisation initiative. With CheMondis, we have launched a digital marketplace that specifically targets the need of the chemicals industry.
-Matthias Zachert, chairman of the board of management of Lanxess
