eBay.com have just published the eBay.com 2019 Early Seller Update and the wording, missing from the eBay UK update early today, goes some way towards explaining why the update was relatively sparse. eBay explained that sellers should expect a further update in two months time and that a limited updated is being released today as an interim measure:
“We’re planning a regular Seller Update for late April, but we’re providing you with a limited update now so you can start taking advantage of new features, Seller Hub enhancements, and listing updates that will help you run your business better.”

This suggests that like last year there will be at least three seller updates in 2019, one today, one in April and traditionally the third comes in the early Autumn.
What you need to know from the eBay.com 2019 Early Seller Update
Some of the changes in the US largely follow the UK Seller Update including Send offers to buyers, changing the listing duration for all fixed price listings to Good ‘Til Cancelled, and providing item specifics to list items without the eBay catalogue.
Changes not announced in the UK but coming on eBay.com include:
Edit your active listings in Seller Hub
Sellers on eBay.com will soon be able to fully manage listings directly from the Active Listings page in Seller Hub. You can now edit price, quantity, and custom labels for all listings from the Active Listings page. eBay will soon be adding the ability to quickly and easily add Best Offer to multiple listings in the Active Listings tab in Seller Hub.
Download orders
Starting in March 2019, you will be able to easily access and quickly download an Orders Report directly to your computer from the “Manage orders” page in Seller Hub. The Orders Report will help you manage your business on eBay more effectively by allowing you to efficiently fulfill your orders and maintain accurate records.
“New other” item condition label and definition update
During the next few months, eBay will start automatically updating existing listings in the Electronics, Home & Garden, Health & Beauty, and Musical Instruments categories that have a “New other” item label to a new “Open box” label.
Also starting soon, eBay.com will begin automatically updating existing listings in the Business & Industrial category with a “New other” label to a “Used – Like New” label and definition.
Terapeak’s eBay insights tool will be free for Store subscribers
Starting in mid-March 2019, Terapeak will be free to Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise eBay Store subscribers.
State sales tax requirement update
In October 2018, eBay announced that several states passed laws requiring them to collect sales tax on taxable items mailed to addresses in those states. In such cases, eBay calculates, collects, and remits the sales tax on your behalf. eBay collect the sales tax at checkout and you do not need to take any action. eBay do not charge a fee for this function.
Starting in March 2019, a new Orders Report will itemize how much tax eBay collected and remitted for transactions in marketplace responsibility states.

new other…. meaning used but like new! Was looking for a phone resently and was put off by the masses of phones listed as new or new other, but when you read the description it was used but like new! reported some, but as usual several days later they are still the same. Got phone elsewhere in the end.
“New other” should not mean “used.” I agree it is frustrating when sellers abuse the term and buyers will go elsewhere.
It is however useful for booksellers, for example, who are selling remainders that are new but a bit bashed.
