A new seasonal eBay selling playbook offers merchants a calendar guide to US holiday dates so that sellers can prepare for each peak season.
The marketplace says that the newly-published playbook “outlines some of the [product] categories that peak during a particular season.” The 2019 holiday and seasonal selling calendar aims to give merchants “proven tips to get ready for selling success during peak selling periods.”
In their weekly chat session last week, eBay said that the playbook gives merchants a selling guide for each season. It shows what buyers want during a particular peak period and gives them a planning guide. For instance, Valentine’s Day will see shoppers buying from categories including “fine jewellery,” “fashion” and “engagement.” The playbook advises merchants to start planning for Valentine’s Day peak from 2nd-18th January to sell on 28th-11th February.
“We just published a playbook at www.ebay.com/seasonalplaybook that outlines some key seasonal moments in a calendar format. For each retail moment (as we call them here at eBay), we’ve outlined some of the categories that peak during that particular season. If you use seller hub (recommend), you can click on the growth tab and also check inventory seasonality based on real sales data from the site. eBay also sends inventory insights in an email to sellers frequently selling in categories where we have the insight to share. More of those to come that will be specific to retail moments. (But wait, there’s more…) The Selling on eBay podcast has a “What’s Hot” segment each week highlight inventory that is selling or expected to sell on site (for the upcoming season).”
