Prime Mailboxes, a supplier of plus-sized mailboxes capable of fitting multiple small packages (and incidentally no relationship to Amazon Prime), surveyed 1,500 US customers to discover the impact that Amazon and in particular Amazon Prime Membership is having on the demand for larger mail boxes.
Their survey confirmed that over half (51.7%) of US consumers have an Amazon Prime account. The 5 states with the highest percentage of Amazon Prime households were Mississippi, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Maine, and South Dakota. The 5 states with the lowest percentage of households with an Amazon Prime member were Wyoming, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Arkansas, Utah.
Almost two thirds of households receive at least one Amazon package delivery a month with nearly 18% receiving five or more Amazon deliveries on a monthly basis. Households with Amazon Prime membership receive significantly more deliveries than those without Prime membership. Nearly 30% of households with Amazon Prime membership receive five or more packages per month, compared with just 5% of non-Prime members.
Interestingly, Prime membership isn’t just about free delivery – the survey also revealed that almost two thirds of Amazon Prime members have also used Prime Video.
