eBay Best Offer expiration duration choice live in the UK

No primary category set

Two weeks ago we wrote that buyers were to get a choice on their eBay Best Offer expiration duration. We think it’s fantastic but it was said to be under testing with a small group of buyers on eBay.com in the US before being fully launched. We can now reveal that it’s live in the UK, at least for some buyers.

We discovered that the eBay Best Offer expiration duration choice was live in the UK quite simply because last night I submitted a Best Offer on eBay. Up popped the duration choice which was defaulted to 24 hours rather than the customary 48 hours.

The Need for Speed…

This is important to note, the default is now 24 hours rather than 48 hours so you’ll need to respond to offers more promptly than previously. Not only that but offers can now be set to expire in just 12 hours if the buyer is in a hurry to close the deal or move on.

…or Automate and Forget

For most sellers, if you have a set level at which you would be willing to accept an offer, it makes sense to use the Best Offer Auto Accept and Auto Decline options eBay provides. There’s really no reason that in most circumstance a buyer can’t make an offer and have it instantly accepted or rejected making the new eBay Best Offer expiration duration choice null and void. Why use your valuable time dealing with Best Offers when they can be automated.

However we are aware that some sellers have good reason to consider each offer on it’s own merits so if that’s you, just be aware that Best Offers can come in at any time of the day or night including weekends and you may now have as little as 12 hours to accept them.

Back to my Best Offer – I’m not in a hurry for the item in question so I selected the eBay Best Offer expiration duration of ‘2 Days’. I kind of like the seller in question as they responded within just 8 Minutes and accepted my Best Offer.
