Amazon have announced the Amazon new Bremen logistics hub with a multi-storey park to house 277 delivery vans in Amazon’s ongoing bid to expand their logistics capabilities. The new logistics centre is scheduled to launch this autumn.

The new centre, which is located in Bremen, northwest Germany is designed to “enable Amazon to offer [German] customers faster and more flexible delivery options.” It’s currently being built on a 38,000 sqm site at the Bremen freight village to be around 12,500 sqm.

In the first phase, Amazon will create about 130 jobs. However, Amazon will then employ more than 400 drivers to deliver parcels to customers. The multi-storey park will offer faster access to Amazon’s fleet for more efficient last mile delivery.

We are very pleased to open a distribution centre in Bremen. More than 20 years of logistical competence, technological progress and investment in transport infrastructure have gone into this building. This enables Amazon to offer customers faster and more flexible delivery options.”
– Bernd Gschaider, director of logistics, Amazon Germany

The move highlights Amazon’s continued mission to offer one-day delivery to customers worldwide. This makes sense as Amazon are now working to roll out their faster delivery promise to more markets outside of the US.
