Amazon acquire INLT to support merchants’ cross-border growth

Amazon have acquired a cloud solution for importing, INLT to support their marketplace merchants import merchandise in the US, reducing their reliance on suppliers to manage their sellers’ cross-border efforts.

“We have been acquired by Amazon and look forward to working with them to develop the next generation of solutions for our current customers and Amazon Selling Partners.”
– INLT.

The marketplace bought the importing start-up on Tuesday, for an undisclosed amount, says Reuters.

The move aims put Amazon in the epicentre of their sellers’ expansion efforts, strategically placing the marketplace in a financially advantageous position to offer a trusted and “lower-cost” solution for merchants already trading on the marketplace. That is, Amazon sellers who wish to expand into the US won’t have to look far; the solution would be ‘within hailing distance.’

“INLT is a smart, nimble team that is helping companies simplify and lower the cost of importing goods into the US. We’re excited to work with them to develop the next generation of solutions for their customers and Amazon selling partners.”
– an Amazon spokesperson.

  1. I am surprised Amazon took so long especially as it is a leader in cross border trade.

It is another tool that makes Amazon indispensable to sellers. Where Amazon offers the seller’s : Wharehousing, delivery, cross border trade, advertising, tax collection.

Anything a seller would require to sell online and expand internationally then Amazn will have a service for it. Which makes Amazon the go to place for sellers to sell online and to expand internationally.
