Amazon are stepping up their delivery promise in Canada with a scheduled launch of their 12th fulfilment centre in the country in a bid to support merchants to deliver instant gratification to their customers in a shape of accelerated delivery.
The marketplace announced the plans to launch a new fulfilment centre in Scarborough, in the City of Toronto. The 1-million square-foot facility will create more than 600 full-time jobs with “comprehensive benefits.”
The 12th fulfilment hub in Canada, and seventh in Ontario, alongside existing Ontario operations facilities in Brampton, Mississauga, Milton, Caledon and Ottawa will serve as a competitive advantage for sellers to offer their customers a variety of delivery options.
“We’re excited about our growth in Toronto, which gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers in the region. The Greater Toronto Area has a talented workforce, and we are committed to providing the area with job opportunities that have great pay and benefits.”
– Vibhore Arora, director of regional operations, Amazon Canada.
Associates at this robotics facility will pick, pack, and ship small items to customers ranging from toys and baby products to small electronics.
“Business is booming in Ontario and today’s announcement by Amazon is further proof that our plan is working to make Ontario open for business and open for jobs.”
“We welcome Amazon’s continued investment in our province, and we will continue to make Ontario the best place for businesses to invest, grow, and create jobs for people.”
– Doug Ford, Ontario Premier.
