Parcel2Go management buyout backed by Mayfair Equity Partners

Mayfair Equity Partners are backing a Parcel2Go management buyout, the UK’s largest price comparison website for parcel delivery services. The management team will remain unchanged. Parcel2Go were one of the first price comparison website for parcels giving smaller online retailers and consumers access to lower parcel rates then previously available without having a business account with couriers.

As a result of the Parcel2Go management buyout investment, Mayfair will have a majority shareholding in the business alongside Parcel2Go’s management team, led by its Executive Chairman, James Greenbury. In addition, through the existing employee Enterprise Management Incentive scheme, a high percentage of employees will continue to be shareholders in the business.

Parcel2Go provides customers with quick and easy parcel price comparison options, working with the biggest and most respected couriers in the world.

In addition to price comparison, the business provides a little known white label service to parcel carriers who obtain turnkey shipping software, a fully hosted website and a third party in Parcel2Go to manage post-sale customer service. When visiting some parcel sites, you might see a striking resemblance to Parcel2Go in which case it’s probably their service powering the solution.

The company’s third business line, which operates as National Pallets, provides pallet pricing comparison options across 17 European countries.

Parcel2Go provides customers an easy alternative to the Post Office, with savings in excess of 50% on delivery services. By providing cheaper and more efficient alternatives for micro SMEs, small retailers and everyday consumers, Parcel2Go has disrupted a large and highly underpenetrated market. The business has a consistent track record of double-digit profitable growth and recorded over £100m in revenues during 2019.

Mayfair’s investment in the price comparison will provide company management with additional capital and operating support to accelerate their growth plans and to explore merger and acquisition opportunities where relevant.

“By operating three complementary business lines, we have successfully delivered strong organic growth and cemented our position as a market leader. We are delighted to be able to deliver an early Christmas present to lots of our employees that are part of the share scheme. Its testament to the family that we created that they have chosen to continue the journey with us. In Mayfair, we have found the ideal equity partner to help us achieve our long-term ambitions and we look forward to working closely with the Mayfair team.”
– James Greenbury, Executive Chairman, Parcel2Go

“Parcel2Go has rapidly achieved a market leading position, providing both carriers and customers a unique offering and excellent quality of service. Price comparison websites have become part of consumers’ everyday lives and parcel delivery services is one of the fastest growing categories within it. As James and his team continue to disrupt the market, we look forward to bringing our prior experience in the PCW space to bear and helping them to achieve their next phase of growth.”
– Daniel Sasaki, Managing Partner, Mayfair Equity Partners

  1. our complaint these guys is their not our fault guv ethos
they blame the courier ,which of course it is ,
but they do little to help with any problem other than patronising waffle

  2. @ tyler
they take the payment and provide the service they have some responsibility
much like any ebay seller is responsible for delivery even though they dont actually deliver

  3. Ebay make it very clear you get what you pay for or you get your money back (even if its not them who pay)
So they are making their self responsible

  4. @tyler
It is You who miss the point
With your obsession to contradict and argue do you actually agree with anyone or anything

  5. my point being parcel2go take the payment my contract is with them, they sold and offered the service they take the profit
its they who should offer support ,not fob off ,wash their hands ,and pass the buck

  6. and while i am moaning
the order booking process is just a little Del Boy
as you click thru the process the highlighting changes so you are led into taking
    protection
the pre filled weigh band checkbox does not give the £1.99 option
the smartsend app enters the 2kg to 5kg band rather than the upto 2kg band
if you enter anything over 1kg

  7. I had a parcel collected on the 21st November for St Barths – a Christmas Gift , never again tech error and no direct contact information and no contact from parcels 2go also any time i had to engage DHL has been eliminated by a useless complaints procedure and lack of communication on the supply chain . Was told a technical error was to blame , some geography lesson perhaps may be in order.

To add insult to injury i now have to buy the presents again and engage DHL direct and just been told my parcel will take another 3/4 weeks to get back to me in SW1 .

Looks like it will be 7/8 weeks for them not to deliver my parcel what a fantastic service – speechless to be honest – will cost me in the region £ 1000.00 to get this resent if i have time
