If you live in Greenwich, Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh, you might get a surprise when you post your Christmas cards as Royal Mail have brought back their Christmas Talking Postboxes for 2020. First making an appearance last year, and decked out in festive elf designs, the postboxes respond to letters being posted with the sounds of elves hard at work.
Whilst it’s likely that most of the population won’t find Christmas Talking Postboxes even remotely convenient for posting their cards, their appearance will doubtless get Royal Mail some much needed good press this Christmas. Having narrowly fought off a strike by the CWU and a less than rosy outlook on their profits for 2020, Christmas at least should be a time for a little festive fun.
The four postboxes located in busy hotspots in London’s Greenwich, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast, and will be in place for the entire festive season. You can find them at:
- London: Greenwich Promenade, King William Walk, London, SE10 9HT.
- Cardiff: 29 Queen Street, Cardiff, CF10 2AH.
- Belfast: 4 Wellington Place, Belfast, BT1 6GE.
- Edinburgh: 137-141 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SG.
“At Royal Mail, we play a key role in delivering Christmas across the UK. While doing so, we always enjoy adding a little extra festive fun to sending Christmas post.”
– Mark Street, Head of Campaigns, Royal Mail

this is good news, in Mitcham CR4 we can’t even Post our Cards for the past 4 weeks Post Boxes in our area have been sealed up. We have to take a bus journey to London SW17 or Croydon CRO. We don’t require fun just to be able to keep in contact with family & Friends
