eBay.com Coronavirus protections for seller standards

eBay.com Coronavirus protections for seller standards for sellers in the US have been announced – we’re yet to hear of similar protections in the UK but will let you know as soon as any are announced.

“Ebay (sic) realizes that flexibility in business operations is essential right now. We want to reassure you that you will not be penalized for being unable to carry out usual operations. We understand there may be situations where you can’t get an item out the door as fast as normal or you have to unexpectedly cancel an order. So in supporting your needs, your Seller Performance Standards will not be negatively impacted during this period.”

eBay say that accounts will not be downgraded on the seller performance standards evaluation due tomorrow, the 20th of March. This eBay.com Coronavirus protection will remain in place until at least the June evaluation.

What this effectively means is that your performance level will not be downgraded for at least three months. If you were a Top Rated Seller as of the February seller performance standards evaluation and today your performance has dropped to Above Standard, you will retail your Top Rated Seller status. Similarly if you are Above Standard and have now dropped to Below Standard you will retail your Above Standard rating on eBay.com.

However on the flip side if your seller standard rating has increased you will still move up from Below Standard to Above Standard or from Above Standard to Top Rated.

eBay say that regardless of the eBay.com Coronavirus protections for seller standards, they want to maintain the best possible buyer experiences during the health crisis. If you are unable to ship due to illness or self-isolating they encourage you to use holiday settings or out of stock settings as soon as you know you are unable to fulfil orders.

It’s also worth noting that eBay, as with just about every other company large and small in the world, are themselves experiencing some disruption as they move to home working. This include customer support teams and at times in different countries telephone support may be temporarily suspended as workers get set up at home. Bear with them, they are just as worried about their personal health as you and it’s a massive operation to move thousands of staff from working in eBay offices to working at home.

  1. I do think Ebay ought to bring in an option to suspend your shop so, if you do need to close for a while, you are not still being charged the listing fees when a GTC item gets automatically relisted after 30 days.

  2. Thank you, and thank you for the temporary reduced fees to help your Sellers, who are also your Partners noooottttttttttttt

  3. Sellers on Ebay are very much hoping that the subscription price will be canceled for the most difficult time!
