iZettle and Stuart local delivery service for SMEs

iZettle, has partnered with Stuart, to offer small business owners a remote payment and local delivery service during the Covid-19 lockdown across the UK. The partnership is aimed at connecting merchants who do not have a webshop or presence on a third-party marketplace, with solutions that allow them to continue trading and selling everyday essential items during the pandemic.

iZettle are a payment company and whilst you may not have heard of Stuart, they are part of the DPD family of companies and are quite interesting. Stuart connect local businesses with hyperlocal couriers who can collect parcels for a local delivery service.

Small businesses such as butchers, bakeries, and fishmongers in 20+ UK cities can accept orders from their customers over the phone, online and through their social channels with iZettle. Merchants then log onto Stuart and arrange for an independent courier to perform the local delivery service of essential items to their customers within hours.

iZettle completes the sale by allowing its merchants to invoice their customers for the order remotely using its alternative online payment method, Payment Links. Using Payment Links, merchants can generate a one-time link via the iZettle Go app and send to their customers by text message, WhatsApp, social media or email, allowing them to pay by card.

The first 100 UK merchants to use the combined remote delivery and payment solutions will receive £10 off their first courier booking by entering STUARTIZETTLE10 at checkout. To support businesses further during these unprecedented times, iZettle has lowered the fees of its online payments until the 31st of May 2020.

The joint initiative from iZettle and Stuart follows on from a successful roll-out in France.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the economy and we’re committed to supporting them today, tomorrow and for years to come. Coming together as an industry and collaborating is more important now than ever and we’re thrilled to partner with Stuart to help our merchants access the essential tools they need.

We want to help our community adapt to this new reality and sell remotely. We’re continuously looking for new ways – big or small – where we can further alleviate their pressures.”
– Jacob de Geer, co-founder, iZettle

“We are pleased to have teamed up with iZettle to help independent merchants continue trading during this unprecedented period. Stuart already enables thousands of merchants across the UK to deliver first necessity goods – food, groceries, pharmaceuticals – and we want small businesses to know that we’re here to help. The iZettle partnership will do just that.

We hope consumers will continue to support their local businesses, purchasing essential products that can be paid for and delivered in a safe way.”
– David Saenz, COO, Stuart

Areas where the iZettle and Stuart local delivery service is live include: Basildon, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Darlington, Derby, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle-Gateshead, Oxford, Sheffield, Southampton, Swansea and Warrington.

The price of each delivery is dependent on the package size of the order and the distance it is travelling. Stuart’s geolocalised fleet operates seven days a week, with real-time tracking and no commission, charging a delivery fee only, which merchants can choose to build into their online invoicing. Businesses are also able to add up to eight packages to one single delivery, decreasing the unitary cost of each delivery.

All of Stuart’s independent couriers adhere to the Government’s strict social distancing guidelines and apply the compulsory “contact free” procedure. The delivery partners of the platform are made aware at very regular intervals of information related to the virus and its spread. In addition, Stuart covers the cost of hydro-alcoholic gels, gloves and masks for its couriers.
