Amazon is opening back up for more normal business with Amazon FBA quantity limits coming to an end as they recover from emergency coronavirus operations. However there are still some restrictions around products weighing more than 15kg due to ongoing social distancing requirements and the aim to limit products which require two person lifts.

Amazon FBA quantity limits were introduced in April as Amazon started to open up FBA to incoming shipments again. This caused a headache for merchants who not only had to check line by line which products are eligible for FBA incoming shipments as some products still had a blanket ban, but merchants then had to check what quantity Amazon will accept on a line by line basis. That’s why it’s great news that the Amazon FBA Quantity limits are ending.

Don’t go mad just because Amazon FBA Quantity limits are removed

A word of caution, don’t stock Amazon to the gunnels with stock – you will want to monitor and manage your IPI (inventory performance index) score. If your IPI score is good then you’ll be able to have unlimited stock in Amazon FBA in Q3 as the lead in to peak starts. Conversely, if your IPI score is bad and you have more stock in Amazon FBA on any single day of the month then you will incur the new monthly overage fee of £7.80 per cubic foot for storage.

We are still temporarily limiting receiving products that weigh more than 15 kg, as they may require two-person handling that cannot be performed in compliance with physical-distancing guidance from health authorities. When you create a new shipment for your product, the shipment creation tool will advise you if there is a fulfilment centre capable of handling it.”
