Amazon have recently announced that they are planning to open their first fulfillment center in Forney, Texas in 2021 which will create more jobs and further their expansion.

“Bringing a transcendent company such as Amazon to Forney is a huge step for our community,

“One of my biggest priorities has been to create more jobs and bring economic opportunity to our citizens. Now more than ever, this is a crucial time for economic growth and I feel confident Amazon will bring that to the City of Forney. I’m grateful to Amazon, city council and staff for making this possible.”
– Mary Penn, Mayor of Forney, Texas

Amazon have stated that the one million square-foot fulfillment center in Texas will contain larger-sized items such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment, or rugs and will be accompanied by a 200,000 square-foot delivery station due to launch later this year. The additional facilities will improve Amazon’s order fulfillment process and bring more options for customers and businesses in the area by providing customers with quicker, more efficient services when they order from Amazon.com. In addition to the part-time jobs being created for those working in the centers, they will provide entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own small businesses delivering Amazon packages.

“I am incredibly proud to welcome Amazon to our growing community. This announcement shows that Forney offers a great climate and resources for businesses to thrive,

“Our council believes it’s critically important to bring more opportunities to Forney so residents have the opportunity to work where they live. This is a great step forward and I am excited to see how Amazon positively impacts our community.”
– Derald Cooper, Forney city councilmember
