Free lockdown access to Carrefour France Marketplace

Through its marketplace, which currently focuses on food, Carrefour provides small retailers with an accelerated solution for digitising their businesses with the support of its partner Mirakl. Now Carrefour France are making the Carrefour France Marketplace free to use during the French lockdown.

In June 2020, Carrefour launched a food marketplace which has already made products from more than a hundred retailers and artisans available to some 15 million people in France who visit carrefour.fr every month. 52% of these “partner vendors” are SMEs, very small companies and start-ups.

During the pandemic, to help food producers and retailers affected by the lockdown speed up their adoption of digital technologies, they are giving free access to the Carrefour France Marketplace until the end of 2020. This will give these new retailers free access to a very wide customer base without having to spend a single euro on marketing, and without needing to undertake any emergency development work on their own websites.

Retailers can simply contact the Marketplace development unit which will reply within 48 hours. Then with support from Carrefour and its technology partner Mirakl – leader in Marketplace solutions – they will be able to digitalise their business in under a week.

Carrefour France Marketplace requirements for retailers

  • Be a professional vendor;
  • Sell food products (fresh produce, grocery products, world products, beverages, etc.), hygiene, care and beauty products, pet products (food and accessories) or childcare products (food, basic accessories) that meet quality requirements (meaning that they need to be sufficiently healthy and safe);
  • Be able to deliver to anywhere in France (Carrefour’s account manager will be able to assist the vendor in finding the most appropriate logistics solutions for transporting their products) and provide customer service in French;
  • Undertake to adhere to the Marketplace’s quality charter.

Currently specialising in food, Carrefour’s Marketplace will gradually open up to non-food products with the Black Friday sales event scheduled for the end of November 2020.
