There’s a new OnBuy Chief Marketing Officer, Aron Cody-Boutcher. This is an appointment of key importance to merchants selling on OnBuy as he’s in charge of generating hype to attract consumers. Aron will be working closely with OnBuy’s founder and CEO, Cas Paton.
OnBuy Chief Marketing Officer, Aron Cody-Boutcher
Aron has more than 20 years’ experience in translating customer insight into marketing strategy, digital product development and commercial business performance working for fast-growing retail brands in high growth environments.
Aron held high-ranking positions at Seasalt as Chief Customer Officer, Nisbets, the kitchenware and catering equipment retailer, as Head of Ecommerce UK and Ireland, and at global footwear manufacturer and retailer, Clarks, as Global Digital Brand Manager.
“It’s an exciting time at OnBuy. Multi-brand multi-category shopping is seeing a fundamental transformation. With the closure of many department stores and customers wanting a more ethical marketplace alternative , customers are looking for new ways to shop. OnBuy fills this void.
Customers still want the choice, value, trust and convenience that department stores offer with the knowledge that they are buying from and supporting local businesses. OnBuy delivers this with the convenience of online retailing, something shoppers have become more accustomed to a result of the pandemic.
Ecommerce platforms such as OnBuy have become the new department stores. I anticipate that we’ll see marketplaces evolving to appeal to multiple markets, all the way from shoppers looking to cost-save through bulk buying up to those looking for a luxury online shopping experience to purchase high-value items.
The fundamental difference of the OnBuy marketplace is that we don’t compete with our retailers ensuring we deliver more product choice and great prices to end consumers. We ultimately provide unique benefits to both our retailers and customers.”
– Aron Cody-Boutcher, Chief Marketing Officer, OnBuy
Aron joins OnBuy alongside a series of other recent C-suite hires, including ex-eBay director Mark Lister as Chief Commercial Officer and former Richmond Group Finance Director, James Watts, as Chief Financial Officer. OnBuy, which was founded in November 2016, now employs more than 85 people and will be welcoming more team members in the coming months.
“With the recent boom in online shopping and the continued evolution of the ecmmerce market, I’m delighted that Aron will be bringing such a breadth of experience to this new and important role.
OnBuy growth trajectory
“Aron will be fundamental in raising OnBuy’s brand awareness to introduce new customers as we continue on our international scale-up over the next three years. He will also continue to further engage the eight million customers who currently shop with us.
As the industry continues to grow and flourish, we’re working hard to build the best team possible to propel the global growth of OnBuy and our retailers even faster.”
– Cas Paton, founder and CEO, OnBuy
OnBuy has grown by 13x in the past 13 months, including recording its third consecutive year of over 600% year on year growth in 2020. Sales in March 2021 were £3m higher than those recorded the month prior. This puts OnBuy well on track to breach £200m in sales in the coming 12 months.
