People remain cautious of normality despite vaccinations

No primary category set

According to new research released by Invisibly, as vaccinations continue their rollout and places begin opening back up, people remain cautious of normality. According to the data people are as hesitant about returning to normal as they were back in June 2020 and only half of the respondents will return to normal with men being much more likely to do so than women.

People being cautious of normality could be a good sign for online businesses, we already know from previous research that people plan to continue with their new online shopping habits post COVID but this research solidifies that people will remain heavily reliant on ecommerce despite things opening back up.

Highlights:

The highlights from the data are below.

Activities people are willing to go out and do right now/today:

  • 63.5% of respondents said they would consider getting a haircut.
  • 61% of respondents said they would consider going to the dentist.
  • 55% of respondents said they would consider dining at a restaurant.
  • 55% of respondents said they would return to working in an office.
  • 47% of respondents said they would consider going to the gym.

In popular order, where people are going out to most now/today:

  • Getting a haircut: 63.5%
  • Going to the dentist: 61%
  • Returning to work in an office: 55%
  • Dining at a restaurant: 55%
  • Going to the Gym: 47%

Some key insights we learned:

  • Men are much more willing than women to return to normal activities in nearly every category.
  • Younger people are feeling more cautious than other ages about resuming regular activities.
  • We have not made as much progress in our return to normal as would have been predicted by the survey in July 2020.

  1. Interesting that more people are concerned about their looks (hair,) than health (teeth)….. when hesitancy is due to health risk!!!

  2. Well your hair is about feeling good, returning to normality and you see it at least once a day whereas unless your teeth hurt, there’s always a good reason for postponing a trip to the dentist.
