US remains Alibaba’s fastest growing B2B ecommerce market

It’s World Trade Month, and Alibaba are celebrating their ecommerce growth in an announcement that for the second year, the US is Alibaba’s fastest-growing B2B ecommerce market. Alibaba has seen huge global growth in B2B ecommerce trade by US small and medium-sized businesses.

US SMBs increasingly turn to Alibaba.com as their essential ally to accelerate their digitization and globalization, it is no surprise that the US is Alibaba’s fastest growing B2B ecommerce market. US-based sellers on the platform has more than doubled, transactions involving US businesses on Alibaba.com were up more than 150% and the number of active buyers on Alibaba.com from the US was up 98%.

Alibaba.com facilitates more than $20 billion in B2B ecommerce sales annually, which are 100% from third-party sellers. Trade trends over the past year include:

  • The most sought-after product categories from US-based sellers on the platform over the past year have been Consumer Electronics, Vehicles & Accessories, Food & Beverage, Health & Medical, and Sports & Entertainment.
  • Sports and entertainment (including outdoors sports) average daily demand grew 93% year-over-year, specifically for products such as Bicycles/Ebikes, Electric Scooters, Shoes, Gym Equipment, Tents, Rowing Boats and Sports Shoes
  • Home appliances daily average demand grew 87% year-over-year, specifically for products such as Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, Ranges, Water Heaters and Coffee Makers
