Amazon Professional Selling Plan subscription fees

No primary category set

On the 1st of August 2021, Amazon will be making some changes to the way Professional Selling Plan subscription fees are billed if you have active listings in more than one country/region with merged accounts.

Your Amazon Professional Selling Plan subscription fee will be divided across your merged accounts, and will be charged in the currency of each Amazon store. You will be charged subscription fees only where you have active listings during the current month. The main impact will be that you could be charge multiple amounts in different currencies depending on which countries you are selling in and this could generate multiple bank charges depending on your funding source for Amazon billing.

Amazon will update the Selling on Amazon Fee Schedule to reflect this change for those that have merged global accounts.

Amazon Professional Selling Plan subscription fees billing

While your total Amazon Professional Selling Plan subscription fees will still be limited to no more than the equivalent USD 39.99 per month (approximately £28.81, exclusive of tax, except in Mexico and Brazil, and any foreign transaction fees charged by your bank or credit issuer), you may see these fees billed to your accounts in a different way:

  • All subscription fees will be billed on the same day of the month, rather than on the monthly anniversary of your registration in each country or region. To align your billing day, we will make a one-time extension of your subscriptions, if necessary, at no additional charge.
  • Subscription fees for your Americas region accounts (United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil) will be billed in each country in which you have active listings on your billing day, rather than being billed in just one country. The total amount billed will not increase as a result. If you sell in our European stores, you will continue to be charged a subscription fee in just one European country.

Examples

If you maintain merged Professional Selling Plan accounts in India (no subscription fee) and Mexico (600 MXN/$30.43 USD subscription fee), you would pay a subscription fee of $30.43 USD per month.

If you maintain merged Amazon Professional Selling Plan accounts in North America ($39.99 USD subscription fee), Europe (€39/$45.94 USD subscription fee) and Japan (¥4,900/$44.18 USD subscription fee), you would just pay the equivalent of $39.99 USD, split proportionately across each country or region in which you have an active listing and charged separately in each local currency. The amounts billed will exclude tax (except in Brazil and Mexico) and foreign transaction fees that may be charged by your bank or credit card issuer, and may vary based on exchange rates.

  1. I’m trying to make sense of this announcement.

Does it mean that if you are a UK seller who only sells to UK buyers, the monthly subscription is going up from £25 to £28.81 a month (in other words, a fee increase) ?

Or that if you’re a Chinese seller sending goods all aorund the world, the total of all your subscription charges in all geographic locaitons will max out at £28.91 a month ?

I’m not sure if it’s that Amazon have lost the ability to write in clear English, or that as sellers we’ve got too used to trying to read between the lines to work out what it is they are not telling us……

  2. It does read as if it is capped, but yes, talk about going around the houses lol! Hopefully somebody will chime in with some plain English but I reckon it seems like no change in costs for most of us.
