Continuing our eBay for Change video diary series, today we meet Maria Del Pilar Marcapiña for the first time. Maria is Commercial Manager at Peruland All Natural. This social enterprise sells Peruvian handicrafts and textiles made by local artisans who have learnt their trade through skills passed down over multiple generations.
Peruland All Natural is a social enterprise which sells natural clothing, accessories and gifts for babies and adults. Founder, Agapito Marcapiña, had a dream to sell his products directly abroad and without using intermediaries and so improve his living conditions. In 2006 he attended a conference, for the first time he heard about the Fair Trade. After that conference Agapito called five other artisans producing different Peruvian Handicraft lines to join his dream
Peruland became a member of the World Fair Trade Organization in 2007 and prides itself on creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers, ensuring that they are earn a fair wage which will help to support both them and their families. Today the Peruland All Natural family includes more than 100 artisans in the Craft Line and more than 50 weavers in the Textile Line
Watch the video below to hear about Maria’s belief in a personal way of doing business as well as the opportunity which eBay for Change brings for Peruland.
