Etsy has launched The Etsy House – their first-ever interactive, augmented-reality experience that allows buyers to “walk through” and shop a digital home filled with curated Etsy items.
With photorealistic and true-to-scale renderings, seamless navigation, and 360-degree visuals, The Etsy House transports visitors to a one-of-a-kind virtual home featuring holiday decor and gifts, and bespoke furniture and artwork. As buyers are increasingly turning to ecommerce for their holiday shopping, this experience is another way we’re leveraging cutting edge technology to help them not only discover new items, but also envision them IRL.
As part of a partnership with Samsung, you’ll also see their new Serif QLED Smart TVs throughout the house.
Now I get that this is a bit of a gimmick, but oh my god there are some beautiful things in the Etsy House. I love the Large Crazy Carpet Table almost as much as the Unique Coffee Table from Solid Oak which is truly stunning. This is a revelation as Etsy isn’t the first place I’d think of when shopping for furniture and so I guess the Etsy House has served it’s purpose, at least for me if not for others.
The whole Etsy House is shoppable – when you hover over select items, a pop-up will provide more information on the product and a link to purchase. You can navigate via mouse and there’s also a handy room selector so you can jump straight to the home setting you want to explore, which is also handy if you get lost in the house and can’t find your way back!
