Amazon FBA capacity gives increased restock limits

No primary category set

With increasing demand for Fulfillment by Amazon from sellers, Amazon have improved storage efficiency and increased FBA capacity to help ensure you can offer the widest possible selection.

Amazon say that they have invested heavily in increasing the square footage across their fulfilment and logistics network in 2020, and in 2021, they have already opened more than 10 new fulfilment centres across the UK and EU. As part of this fulfilment centre expansion, Amazon have announced that that 7 new fulfilment centres launched their operations on the 6th of September 2021, including BGY1, MXP6, MUC3, EMA3, NCL1, MAD7, and POZ2.

As a result, Amazon are adding additional FBA capacity over the peak season and have increased the restock limits to give you more opportunities to send the inventory you need to the fulfilment centre. You should have seen increased restock limits over the last few weeks, with a significant increase in September 2021, allowing you to get ready for peak demand.

Restock limits, and related IPI scores, have been troublesome for sellers in recent times as a sudden change which many have experienced can seriously impact your ability to restock your best selling lines. Amazon encourage you to regularly review your inventory health and continue to optimize your FBA selection, including removal of inventory that is not selling, to make the most of our peak demand period.

Amazon warn that unexpected events, such as additional COVID waves or other restrictions, may require them to adjust their plans as they continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of colleagues and partners. “We are truly committed to offering the best possible service and value your partnership with us. We hope you are as excited about the above as we are and we will continue to update you.”

  1. one thing to becareful for any Amazon seller is to make sure you don’t overstock. After the shopping season, if Amazon cuts your storage capacity again, you will have to recall inventory or discount it to try and move it.

  2. Amazon FBA sales are so quiet and have halfed since halloween for a huge number of merchants so best to keep stocks minimal.

As i know a lot of FBA sellers who are doing their worst for years (including myself) despite biggest range, competitively priced against competitors.

Also begs the question if its the economy or if its more problems at Amazon their not letting sellers know about.
