Pinterest have launched a new AR Try On feature that lets U.S. customers bring virtual décor into their homes. This latest AR technology from Pinterest enables Pinners to virtually place items from US retailers like Crate & Barrel, CB2, Walmart, West Elm, and Wayfair in their home using the Pinterest Lens camera, and try before they buy.
AR on Pinterest
According to Pinterest in the past year, the number of Pinners engaging with shopping surfaces on Pinterest has continued to increase. Pinners continue to use visual search to shop on Pinterest, with Lens camera searches specifically increasing year-over-year by 126%. Try on for Beauty usage by Gen Z and Millenials has increased by 28% and 33% respectively.
Since 9 out of 10 pinners come to the platform for Decor inspiration, Pinterest have created a feature that makes the experience even more immersive.
Customers look to Crate & Barrel and CB2 to find unique pieces, built to last a lifetime. We understand that the path to purchase is not always linear, especially when it comes to furniture. Pinterest’s Try On For Home Décor tool, is one of many examples of how our brands are exploring innovative solutions to make this journey as intuitive as possible by bridging the gap between virtual commerce and reality.

AR and ecommerce
Platforms like Pinterest offering AR solutions can remove certain limitations that consumers face when online shopping. Many consumers take to social media platforms to gather information that helps with their purchasing decisions. It gives them a place to see a range products in different settings and it helps brands display their products to an audience in a more visual way which could result in more sales and less returns.
