News is out that sees eBay Gemany add Klarna payment options for buyers on the marketplace. As part of the partnership, eBay will offer consumers in Germany Klarna’s flexible payment methods in the future in addition to Klarna’s Pay Now.
The two new options will be Financing (The ability to spread payments over a period of time) and Pay Later (Essentially payment on invoice).
The rollout of the new payment options will be gradual, with select merchants initially offering both payment options over the coming weeks, followed by a broad rollout later this year.
We are in constant contact with buyers on eBay and incorporate their wishes into the design of our platform. How you can pay on eBay.de is one of our priorities. That is why we are pleased about the new strategic partnership with Klarna. It allows us to offer two additional payment options that German buyers want to use.

Consumers around the world are turning away from traditional means of payment and embracing alternatives that better meet their expectations by offering smart and transparent services. eBay customers are no different. Through our strategic partnership with eBay, we are able to further enhance the shopping experience by offering Klarna payment options to millions of customers – enabling them to save time, make informed decisions and remain in control of their personal finances.

Update to Payments Terms of Use
The move that sees eBay Gemany add Klarna has resulted in a slight change to eBay’s Payments Terms of Use., with the addition of Part III/Section 7. Klarna. It basically says that if you sell something to a buyer that uses Klarna, you’ll effective sell to eBay Sarl, who will sell to Adyen who in turn will sell to Klarna.
Buyers who use a Klarna Payment Method will make their payments to Klarna, which will forward the payments through Adyen to eBay Sarl, so that eBay Sarl who will be paying you.
Seeing as you won’t know if a buyer is going to use Klarna, it’s probably not something you should worry about as you’ll get paid as normal. The only thin you need to know is that eBay are offering buyers in German additional payment options and hopefully this will mean more sales for you.
As a side note, PayPal are probably upset as they have enjoyed offering buy now pay later services on eBay but moving forward eBay Germany have gone with Klarna and that’s got to sting.
