eBay suspends transactions to addresses in Russia

A variety of news outlets have reported that eBay have temporarily suspended transactions that involve addresses in Russia.

There is no statement on eBays website about the suspension of transactions to addresses in Russia but the reports show that this is part of steps taken to support eBay sellers in Ukraine.

We stand with Ukraine and are taking a number of steps to support the Ukrainian people and our sellers in the region.

As a result of service interruptions by payment vendors and major shipping carriers, we have temporarily suspended all transactions involving Russian addresses and transactions involving Ukraine addresses may experience delays.

We will continue to evaluate and make necessary changes to our policies and service availability as this situation evolves and hope for a rapid, lasting, and diplomatic solution to this crisis.

Many other companies are also suspending their services in Russia after they invaded Ukraine and with the war raging on the suspension of eBay services should be expected. Since the invasion, eBay also announced the suspension of their Global Shipping Program and eBay international standard delivery service into Ukraine and Russia. They have also been providing humanitarian support where possible in the form of donations and fee wavering for Ukrainian sellers. eBay have also removed items expressively supporting Vladimir Putin listed on the platform.

In order to promote trust and respect among our diverse community of members, eBay does not allow items that promote or glorify hatred, violence, discrimination or intolerance based on the characteristics listed below or promote organizations that hold such views.
