Alibaba B2B Pulse: SMEs prioritising sustainability

The April edition of’s B2B Pulse is out, the monthly report which shares macroeconomic and platform trading patterns in order to act as a leading indicator for the coming consumer and retail sales trends.

The April Alibaba B2B Pulse reveals that small businesses are making sustainability a top priority. As going green and reducing carbon footprints continue to gain popularity, small businesses are creating business models and products that support the demand. In fact:

  • The Renewable Energy category has been one of the fastest-growing categories on in 2022, with an average 19% month-over-month (MoM) growth in daily global demand between January–April 2022.
  • Within the category, the top subcategories of products with the highest month-over-month growth in global search volume are:
    • Lithium battery (48% MoM growth since January 2022)
    • Energy storage battery (19%)
    • Wind turbine (16%)
