Decathlon are continuing their marketplace expansion into other markets with a fresh launch in Romania, giving third party partners the chance to sell sporting goods on decathlon.ro.
The extension to Decathlon’s existing range will give customers better access to a range of products and as reported, aims to be home to over 150 new partners by the end of the year. Customers can find items labelled as sold and shipped by partners all across the site.
Partners selling on the Decathlon marketplace will be responsible for invoicing, shipping, delivery and after-sales services put Decathlon will be in charge of payments to ensure a secure transaction.
The last years have represented an opportunity for the digital environment, and the online sales of decathlon.ro have tripled. We noticed the customers’ interest in different sports, and this determined us to complete the existing product offer with the decathlon.ro marketplace.– Ioana Anghel, Marketplace Leader Decathlon Romania
Decathlon began their marketplace model shift by launching in Belgium, then just last year they launched in the UK. Decathlon growing their online marketplace presence is great news for brands and certainly opens up more avenues for businesses selling health and sports related goods, especially considering how well outdoor activities took off during the pandemic.
