Location and Shop Spotlight added to Twitter for Professionals

No primary category set

Twitter have just announced a couple of new additions to professional accounts that businesses with an online and offline presence might be interested in; Location Spotlight and Shop Spotlight.

Location Spotlight

Now, businesses will be able to let customers know some vital information to make life easier. You can display your business’ location, hours of operation, and additional contact methods.

  • Business location: Listed and shown on a small map in the profile spotlight. People can tap on the location map/listing to open Google Maps, or their default map app, for easier navigation to the business’ space.
  • Hours of operation: This field is optional but can be customized to showcase the days and times businesses want people to visit their location.
  • Methods of contact information: When the contact button in the spotlight is enabled, it can kick off one or more of the following directly to the business:
    • Phone call
    • Text message
    • Twitter Direct Message
    • Email

The addition of Location Spotlight means that your customers wont have to search around to know where you are based and when you are open. It could be the reason a consumer decides to visit your shop. If they do need to contact you, they have access to that too. Location spotlight is currently available to professional account holders in in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Shop Spotlight

The Shop Spotlight has been in testing phase since last year and is now currently available to some qualifying accounts. It is a dedicated space at the top of a profile where businesses can showcase their products. This spotlight is meant to enable serendipitous shopping moments right on Twitter. Potential customers can scroll through the carousel of products and tap through on a single product to learn more and purchase
