After two years of operation, having shipped well over well over 6 billion items of PPE, the NHS PPE Portal was a vital national service during the pandemic. Powered by eBay’s platform with order management capabilities from Volo Commerce, those health professionals that needed urgent access to PPE were above to obtain it and it’s all thanks to Volo and eBay volunteering their expertise for free.
The Volo Origin platform managed the PPE listings and processed all the orders, connecting directly into eBay. The sheer scale of this project, all on top of managing their client’s multichannel businesses, demonstrates just how robust Volo Origin is and the opportunities to scale with the solution.
The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, has written to express his thanks and gratitude saying:

Sajid Javid went on in his thanks to specifically call out Chris Farrelly (founder and chief architect of Volo Commerce), Scott Bagnall (Head of Product at Volo Commerce) and Tony Kyberd (CEO of Volo Commerce). Without these three, the NHS PPE Portal would have existed. They made their teams available at no charge, putting in many tireless hours to get the service up and running and then operate and maintain it for the two year period when the pandemic was at it’s peak in the UK.
