Upasana Gupta has been revealed as the new eBay General Manager of Advertising in the UK.
Heading up the eBay Ads UK team based in Richmond, London, Upasana will focus on driving adoption of advertising solutions to help sellers to thrive, brands to grow, and buyers to discover products on the eBay platform.
Upasana joins from Microsoft Advertising, where she worked for 16 years — most recently as the EMEA Marketing Lead where she was responsible for building and evolving Microsoft’s advertising business to drive success and growth for its advertising customers.
I couldn’t be more excited to join eBay and become part of a company that has been one of the earliest tech-led business leaders — creating connections and opportunities for people and businesses around the world. The growth potential that exists today within the digital advertising space is huge and I look forward to working with the team to help expand the eBay Ads business and support clients and sellers across the UK on their growth journey.

I am extremely pleased to welcome Upasana to eBay. She brings a strong background from years building and evolving Microsoft’s advertising business and will be a fantastic addition to our UK team — enabling us to drive adoption of ads solutions in the UK and, in turn, enabling us to help sellers to grow their businesses.

in effect more adverts on ebay
so sellers pay ebay even higher fees to compete against
You can tell eBay advertising isn’t there for the sellers – it’s just there to boost eBay’s revenue.
For instance, if you give a buyer an item number or item title for one of your listings that they are wanting. When the buyer searches for that – even though yours is the only listing that will show up – your listing is still a “Sponsored ad” – even though it’s the only result. Basically just guaranteed extra income for eBay.
Just a con.
