YouTube Shorts is a way for anyone to connect with a new audience using a smartphone and the Shorts camera in the YouTube app. YouTube’s Shorts creation tools allows users to create short-form videos that are up to 60 seconds long with the multi-segment camera.

This is an interesting expansion for ecommerce professionals as TikTok has already proven how beneficial short video’s are to business, the added bonus here is the potential to earn ad revenue.

Many have tried and failed at their attempts to take on TikTok.. *cough* Meta *cough* but if anyone is ready for the challenge it would be the grand master of video , 17 year old YouTube.

YouTube Shorts is going a step further by implementing something not yet achieved for short videos – ads. Not only can users share content and gain a following but they can generate ad revenue. According to YouTube, Shorts, ads run between videos in the Shorts Feed and every month, revenue from these ads will be added together and used to reward Shorts creators and help cover costs of music licensing.
