Neighbours revived by Amazon Freevee

Neighbours revived by Amazon Freevee

For all those who thought that was that when, watching the final ever episode of Neighbours in July, with the return of Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue as Scott and Charlene Robinson, have a nice treat coming up. News is out of Neighbours revived by Amazon Freevee.

Freevee is available as an app on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and as a free Channel within Prime Video, across a plethora of devices.

Filming will resume next year and will be broadcast through the streaming service in the UK and US. Plus thousands of old episodes will be made available for those that wish to relive the 80s. Stefan Dennis ( who appeared in the first ever episode of the show) , Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne and Ryan Moloney are cast members who have been confirmed as returning (playing Paul Robinson, Karl Kennedy, Susan Kennedy and Toadfish Rebecchi respectively).

Quite where this leaves Neighbours: The Farewell Tour isn’t quite clear, not so much a Farewell any more and more of a temporary interlude while the show relocates to it’s new home on Freevee.

Neighbours has captivated its audience for nearly 40 years, building a dedicated and loyal following for the lives and stories of the characters on Ramsay Street. With the power of streaming, we’re able to offer a catalogue of thousands of Neighbours episodes for new audiences to discover this legendary series and current fans to relive their favourite moments. We look forward to immersing the audience in new Ramsay Street experiences when we relaunch the show next year for Amazon Freevee and Prime Video customers.

– Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD original content and programming, Amazon Studios

One might wonder why Amazon would spend what must be a small fortune on reviving the show, and the answer would be the usual one – the more Amazon can lock customers into great content which they can’t live without the more those same customers are likely to value their Prime membership and spend on the marketplace.
