OnBuy have made it even easier to buy on their marketplace with the addition of a guest checkout option for customers. Put simply, this means that a consumer can purchase your products on OnBuy without the need to open an account.
A recent test has revealed that the addition of a guest checkout option has significantly decreased checkout abandonment and therefore increased website conversion. These results have been calculated to equate to a significant increase in GMV annually for OnBuy’s sellers.
Of course an account comes with a ton of benefits for OnBuy and any one that purchases regularly on the site would be well advised to do so as their address details will then be held and not have to be entered every time they make a purchase… and all their order history and tracking will be easily available. However, for those that find one product they want to purchase on OnBuy, a guest checkout is perfect as they can click and buy without having to sign their life away opening an account.
Enabling a guest checkout is a lesson many retailers should take note of – not everyone that wants to purchase from you intends to be a repeat customer and so making their life easier can get you the one off sales you may otherwise miss. And who knows, a one off customer that loves your service may decide to come back repeatedly, end up owning an account and so getting on your mailing list in the long term, even if they avoid it for their first purchase.
