eBay first Pinterest Idea Ads

No primary category set

Just before Christmas, Online marketplace, eBay, launched their very first Pinterest Idea Ads on the visual inspiration platform. This is interesting as it’s the first time eBay have fully engaged with Pinterest with a Paid Partnership campaign

eBay’s first collaboration with creators on Pinterest aimed to inspire Pinners to celebrate ‘Christmas Your Way’, showcasing Christmas traditions and realising their home’s true potential through DIY and gifting for the festive season. The content encouraged Pinners to gift and decorate thoughtfully this Christmas, demonstrating minimalistic tablescapes, homemade flower baubles and creative wreaths for all the family to get involved with.

The one-of-its-kind project showcased the collaboration of eBay and three UK Pinterest creators Poppy Deyes, Making the Manor, and Tiffany Grant-Riley.

eBay Idea Ads focused on Home Decor

Home decor is the top category on Pinterest with millions of Pinners coming to the platform every month to search and shop inspiration. Pinterest has seen x 3.5 increase in searches for ‘Christmas decor DIY’ this past year, making it the ideal platform for eBay to reach consumers who are actively seeking DIY and festive inspiration for their homes.

Pinterest recently launched Idea Ads with Paid Partnership as a new ad format that enables businesses to promote a creator-produced Idea Pin. With the paid partnerships tool, businesses can now collaborate with a creator to produce immersive, interactive branded content that consists of images and videos to tell a story and inspire the creator’s audience to action. It also provides businesses with the ability to scale collaborative content beyond the creator’s audiences by promoting it to their target audiences and measuring performance on Pinterest’s ad platform.

As an interiors and home decor creator on Pinterest, I am always looking to serve up fresh ideas that are genuinely of interest to my audience. Thanks to Pinterest, I have the opportunity to partner with big retailers such as eBay and do just that. Working with eBay to create native content will help me to foster a more engaged and positive community, serving up inspiration and showing how to bring that to life. For those looking to create unique and fun Christmas decorations for their tree this year, my Idea Ad will help to show them how.

– Faith and Deji (AKA Making the Manor)

We are delighted to be partnering with Pinterest for our ‘Christmas Your Way’ campaign. Handing over the creative power to three brilliant Pinterest creators known for their interior inspiration has helped shape up authentic content that could only come from creators who understand our audience. Utilising Pinterest to closely collaborate with creators has provided us with an opportunity to reach new audiences at the very moment they are seeking inspiration for their own home.

– Alex Allcott, Brand Director, eBay UK

Millions of interior-lovers come to our platform every month looking for new inspiration to refresh their homes. Recently we’ve seen a particular spike in searches for ‘Christmas decor DIY’, which gives eBay the perfect opportunity to highlight the variety of products that can be bought or upcycled on the marketplace, to create those beautifully personal gifts.
