Amazon to ban returns for personalised products

Great news for sellers of personalised items, from the 15th of February 2023, custom and personalised products purchased on Amazon will no longer be eligible for returns.

Amazon Custom is a store on Amazon.co.uk where shoppers go to customise your products with their text, images, or logos—or from a list of options you provide. As well as listing on Amazon Custom, products also appear in the regular Amazon category.

The 3 types of customisation on Amazon

Text customisation

Text customisation allows customers to add text to your products using color and font options you’ve specified within Seller Central. This option can be used for engraving, embroidery, printing, painting, and more.

Image customisation

Image customisation enables customers to customize your product by uploading their own image. The customer may also add text to display on the image.

Product configuration

Product configuration or “list of options” enables you to create a series of drop-down options through Seller Central that customers can use to build their own product. This feature also enables you to charge an additional fee for select customisation options.

We know it can be difficult to accept returns of customised products as they may be hard to reuse or resell. This policy makes it clear to customers that their customised product purchases are final and saves you from manually authorising returns requests.

Custom products ineligible for returns include those that are made to order or personalised with names, designs, or inscriptions. For more information on product customisation, go to Amazon Custom.
