Sarah Edmunds Illustration, run by Sarah herself, has turned a hobby and life time passion into a flourishing business. It’s been a long journey to success, starting a decade ago in 2013, but today Sarah sells her unique, playful, nature designs worldwide (take a look at Sarah Edmunds Shop, you won’t be able to resist purchasing!), and in the meantime has started a family with a new addition on the way later this Spring.
So how does an artist, mother and partner find time to grow a business and at the same time survive a worldwide pandemic? Sarah’s secret is to outsource all of the business functions leaving time to focus on product development and family time.
The most significant task to be outsourced is fufilment, but with design and manufacturing coming together, the presentation and unboxing is key and that’s where GFS Fulfilment comes in. Having moved to GFS from a smaller fulfilment house, two diametrically opposite features are what Sarah appreciates most the tech that comes from a major fulfilment operation and the personal service provided to her consumers.
- The automation and technology that enables her to know exactly where her stock is and sees orders flying out of the warehouse within minutes of a customer making a purchase; and
- At the same time the care and attention that sees bulk stock deliveries from manufacturers broken down and repackaged as individual items for sale and then lovingly packaged by hand in the same way Sarah would send out items in the early days of the business.
Having grown the business from a few orders per day, to at peak times hundreds of orders per day, Sarah tells me that there is simply no way she could dispatch the required volumes in-house. There simply aren’t enough hours in the day and that’s why she turned to fulfilment. GFS Fulfilment meets her needs, both for handling the volume and the bespoke packaging service they provide, leaving her time to do what she loves most… designing yet more unique, quirky, designs and new product lines on which they will be featured.
