Eve Williams promoted to General Manager at eBay UK

eBay has today announced that Eve Williams has been promoted to Vice President, General Manager of its UK business. Eve Williams joined eBay in December, 2020, as UK Chief Marketing Officer – overseeing high profile campaigns like eBay’s pre-loved fashion partnership with Love Island, a revival of MTV’s iconic Pimp my Ride series, and the introduction of a new brand platform, The eBay Way.

Before eBay, Eve spent seven years as Global Brand Director at ASOS where she was responsible for the company’s marketing and customer programmes, alongside creative strategy, content planning, consumer comms and social media output. Prior to that, Eve was Managing Director at Cedar Communications Ltd, producing content for some of the world’s leading brands including British Airways, Tesco, O2, TUI and Nikon.

Eve replaces Murray Lambell who held the role since 2020 and has now been promoted to Global General Manager of the Home, Garden & Refurbished categories based at eBay’s European headquarters in Bern, Switzerland.

I am delighted to announce Eve’s well deserved promotion to lead our UK business, representing our second largest global market. She is the ideal candidate for the job, bringing a wealth of cross-functional experience to the UK leadership role, including as UK CMO where she transformed the way we understand and engage British customers.

– Jordan Sweetnam, Senior Vice President for Global Markets, eBay

Here at ChannelX, we’d like to welcome Eve to her new role and a huge thank you to Murray for his tireless work over the many years. We look forward to catching up with them both in the near future.

I feel incredibly privileged to step up to this role at an exciting moment in eBay’s 28 year history. In the UK, millions of people use our platform to buy and sell everyday, while hundreds of thousands of small businesses across the country use eBay to reach millions of customers across all our key categories whether that’s car parts & accessories, homewares, preloved fashion or refurbished tech. As UK shoppers think much more about the environmental impact of how and what they buy, we are uniquely positioned to offer a smarter, more sustainable place to shop.

  1. i wonder id she will sort out the many many problems on ebay……or like all the others just ignore them. I have given up on ebay’s feedback requests on “how they are doing”, they have ignored all of them so far

  2. They all seem to have game changing theories and projects
Yet ebay is increasingly expensive ,less profitable ,and more time consuming

    1. This is one of the biggest issues with ebay, when they play musical chairs ever few months or few years at the top, new ideas, change policies again. No consistency. Returns is the latest example, few years once return had been accepted buyers had 14 working days to return, then it changed to 14 calendar days and no gone back to business days.

Will be interesting to see which side of the fence she sits on. Last few years hear a lot of we support small business but at the same time hammer them with every metric they can think of whilst hitting us with loads of cost increases or “marketing” promotions.

  3. Another box ticker installed in a top position to spout the usual talking points about climate change etc. I would advise her to tread very carefully – because the “greenest” thing to do is to buy NOTHING

  4. Ah that’s a shame. I got on with Murray on the odd occasion I got to speak to him.
Not sure his role-change is a ‘promotion’ as such but good luck to him regardless.
I wonder if this weeks’ new manager at eBay UK will be able to get Vehicle Registration Number added to checkout, it’s evaded everyone else for the last 5 years….
