How to get Father’s Day visibility on eBay

With Father’s Day fast approaching (It’s the 18th of June if you’ve not already got it in your diary!) and with everything from tools to sporting goods, personalised gifts and other must-haves, eBay is a one-stop gifting shop for the occasion. To raise awareness, provide buyers with gift inspiration and hopefully boost item visibility in the run-up to Father’s Day, eBay have launched a bespoke Father’s Day destination on eBay.co.uk.

eBay have also shared some advice to help increase the visibility of your items, not just for Father’s Day but all year round:

1) Use fast, tracked delivery options

Getting gifts on time is crucial for occasions like Father’s Day. So, to help you provide a smooth delivery experience, eBay recommend the use of fast, tracked delivery options. This becomes even more important when considering that a lot of buyers will be making purchases last-minute.

In those instances, it could be worth adding a paid express delivery service to your listings.

Using fast, tracked delivery options, as well as giving your buyers more visibility, also helps to prevent the opening of “item not received” cases and gives you extra protection. Did you know you could also get a 7% uplift in sales by offering delivery within 3 days, when combined with a short handling time and the use of a fast delivery service?

2) Optimise your listings

The better optimised your listings are, the higher your impressions (and hopefully conversion) will be. Some top tips include using all of the available 80 characters in your titles, which should include the terms your buyers are searching for.

Using high-quality photos, taken from every angle and showing any flaws or scratches, are also key to optimise your listings. Did you know you can now include up to 24 pictures for free, which we recommend you take advantage of! Or better still, why not bring your listings to life with videos?

It can also pay to include relevant keywords – such as “Father’s Day” or “Personalised” – to tap into relevant surges in searches in the run-up to the occasion. If you’re unsure exactly what those keywords might be, Terapeak is a powerful tool to help you uncover best-selling products around Father’s Day, as well as insights to help you optimise your listings. Just remember to remove “Father’s Day” after the date has passed!

3) Stand out with Promoted Listings

Our suite of Promoted Listings products are a powerful way to help your items stand out on eBay. Following feedback from sellers, we also recently released Broad match: a new keyword match type available for Promoted Listings Advanced campaigns.

Remember to set your Father’s Day campaigns to end a few days before the 18 June, as buyers may not receive their item in time.

4) Engage potential buyers with promotions

There are 5 types of promotions you can launch via Seller Hub.

Consider creating new promotions to get the attention of buyers in the run-up to Father’s Day. In 2021, approximately 44% of transactions featured at least one of our promo tools.

Offer to Buyers helps you engage your interested buyers by sending a reduced price on your listing or giving them the opportunity to make their best offer. You can also add a personal touch by sending a message with your offer.

Order Discounts are a great option when you’re selling items that are complementary to each other, such as golf tees with golf balls. Options include quantity discounts, like: “Buy two and get a third free” or threshold discounts, such as: “Spend over £100 and get 20% off”.

Multi-Buy lets you offer tiered discounts when buyers purchase numerous quantities of the same item. It’s a great tool for lower priced items that are bought frequently or in larger quantities, such as razor blades, car cleaning products (or whatever it is dads buy in abundance).

Coded Coupons enable you to offer your buyers a discount through a coupon code. Share them publicly on eBay or privately through your own marketing channels, such as social media or include printed coupons in packaging with orders. Top tip: start including coded coupons in your orders now, as you never know which of your customers will be searching for gifts!

Use Sale Event + Markdown to sell your items at a discount for a limited time. For example:

Save up to 40% on power tools”. The Markdown feature will show your buyers the price of the listing before and after the discount.
