As part of its continued efforts to lead the charge as the UK’s leading fashion footwear retailer, schuh has introduced single shoe purchases nationwide. The timing is very apt – watching the recent Paralympics, there were many calls for disability to become more mainstream and there are so many shoppers with limb differences and other disabilities who don’t need a pair of shoes.
The initiative, available in-store, sees schuh customers get 50% off single shoes taken from a brand-new pair.
The new offering follows the positive feedback already received from customers who have previously purchased one shoe via schuh’s customer care team and is now being rolled out across all stores.
To launch the new ‘single shoe’ initiative, schuh is partnering with model and amputee advocate, Georgia Stannard, who is on a mission to increase inclusivity and representation in the fashion industry.
When I heard schuh was announcing its single shoe initiative, I felt so proud to be working with a brand striving towards greater inclusivity and disability awareness. Having more choice makes me feel supported and confident about shopping for my favourite shoes in-store.
– Georgia Stannard, model and advocate
In addition to the new ‘single shoe’ initiative, the footwear retailer has a number of purpose-led programmes that aim to further cement its ongoing commitment to disability equality. To date, schuh has included diverse casting in campaigns, image descriptors and subtitles across social content and ensured 10% of all e-commerce product imagery features disabled models or models with visible differences. schuh also commits to observing quiet hours in several stores and has resources available to showcase what to expect when shopping in-store.
Creating an inclusive shopping experience is a key part of our business strategy. I am delighted to be able to roll out single-shoe purchases to all schuh stores. We have been doing it via our Customer Experience team for some time, but now, even more people will have access to our hottest brands and products through this inclusive product offering.
– Neil Partington, Chief Retail Officer, schuh
