A Poshmark fee update which aims to boost seller earnings is rolling out today and is designed to help sellers maximize their earnings with every sale. The previous 20% Poshmark fee for sellers will be replaced with a simple and transparent 5.99% fee along with a $1, $2, or $3 fixed fee depending on the total order.
Additionally, Poshmark is instating a buyer protection fee that mirrors the seller fee structure of a $1, $2, or $3 fixed fee plus 5.99% fee based on the order total. This fee provides shoppers with clear, upfront price transparency and covers Posh Protect, Posh Authenticate (when applicable), 24/7 customer support, and continuous improvements to the platform.
Below are the fixed fee pricing tiers for both buyers and sellers:
- For total orders under $15: Fixed Fee is $1
- For total orders between $15 and $50: Fixed Fee is $2
- For total orders $50 and above: Fixed Fee is $3
This new fee structure offers complete transparency and even more value for Poshmark community members – there are no surprise costs for sellers or buyers when an item is sold!
Poshmark is thrilled to implement these positive changes empowering sellers to earn more while providing buyers with price transparency and a continued secure and protected shopping experience.

This will reduce buyers….. the fees to buy are ridiculous. Ask Mercari about their reduction in buying.
Exactly I have an account and use to sell all the time now I can barely get one sale a month!
YES I WAS THINKING THE SAME!!!
It’s 10% average added to tax and price of the item!!! That’s stupid! eBay is still my favorite
Agreed. I deleted the app on my phone last week when I went in to buy something and they had attached the buyer protection fee.
Oh hell no.
I have bought many lovely things on Poshmark, but they are certainly not the only game in town.
It all costs more now. That’s all we care about. Cost. It costs more. I buy a lot. But not anymore.
What is it protecting? If the item is wrong we get a full refund. If it’s not what we wanted but it’s as pictured that’s a risk always incurred on the buyer. But now we have to pay more. So less incentive to buy what we can’t try on. How does that add value or protect. Try a 30day return fee. But DONT ADD FEES.
I can tell it’s more expensive immediately. I was about to buy something but stopped because I could believe how much MORE it was from the sellers offer.
So…..NOT HELPFUL.
Horrible system, I stopped buying on Mercari for that reason!!
What good does it do the seller if there is no buyers that want to pay that stupid added fee!!?
It makes me more upset and dumbfounded the more I read it.
It doesn’t “boost” seller earnings if buyers now offer less because fees are higher. That DECREASES seller earnings. Sellers still pay a net around 17% at the end of the day with the new set up. But now buyers also pay between 5-10% or more based the “fixed fee” which still act as a percentage, based on the amount.
Where is the benefit and value if it just costs more?
And how are you calculating the 5.99%? It’s not on the offer price or the offer price and tax because I just did that math and it’s still higher!?
Ok, just did the math and your charging on the gross of offer price, shipping and tax!! You’re charging on top of tax!? Sounds unethical and like robbery.
Plus I’m a little bitter because I was going to accept an offer from a seller that’s now higher because this got instated in the meantime.
Take it from an active buyer and spouse of a seller. NOT HELPFUL.
I meant you’re charging your fee AFTER tax!? Seems wrong.
I was shocked when I bought an item for 50- plus paying 8- shipping and on top of that an extra 10- for tax and buyer protection, which made my 50- purchase amount to 66- If this is going to happen on every purchase I will not be buying from Poshmark anymore. These are used items, not retail!
This will cause many sellers and buyer to end their Posh accounts. Dumb decision by the CEO. This was not thought out at all!!!
I agree! This is ridiculous and it will absolutely reduce buyers. I’m with my daughter and she was about to buy a purse, then saw her total cost with the additional ‘protection’ fee. Added almost $5 to her total and she decided ‘NOPE!! Not getting it! ‘ Poshmark, PLEASE reverse this silly additional fee to the buyer!!! You are driving business AWAY!! 😭
I also just passed on a purchase because of this fee. It’s too much. I’m sorry for the sellers who willl lose business.
It’s just ridiculous!!! I’ve been selling online for more than 15 years now, and today is the first time I CANCELLED a purchase I was about to make….because I needed to STOP and think about it! WHAT PROTECTION FEE??? To protect WHO??? How are they planning to BOOST sellers’ earnings if fewer and fewer buyers want to buy from this platform beginning from now??? I’m so fed up with PoshMark!!!
I just had a buyer about to accept an offer but changed her mind when she saw the new fees. Poshmark already charges a premium to sell. Now buyers are paying more of a premium to buy. This business model will ultimately cause people to leave this platform. Like me.
How unethical! I’ve purchased before from Poshmark, but no more! This new fee for buyers is atrocious. Sellers will be making less because we aren’t buying now! I’ll bet you didn’t ask buyers and sellers about this before assessing.
Bye bye Poshmark!
I love it! More money for us sellers and I have been selling all day! This isn’t Mecari! This is Poshmark!! You better step up your A game and Level Up. Because the higher the sale it behooves you; Less fees. I have affluent customers, who don’t whine about fees. They just buy because I bring what the marketplace wants.
It’s rediculously high , today I was about to buy a bag for 150 and I need to pay Tex plus fees is around $28 plus shipping $8 so I have to pay 150 +36 , I stopped there and didn’t purchase .
Same here, about to pay $150 for something and found the total is at $185 comparing to $163 a couple days ago. This is the end of my posh journey.
Deleting my Poshmark account. I will not subject any buyer to these ridiculous fees!! I have looks for the slippers I was about to purchase for months, and refused to go through with it because half the price over was fees and shipping! You are just putting fees on the buyer that you take from the seller! That’s just wrong!
So on a $10 item Posh is now making 36% (0.60 6% buyer fee + $1 flat fee + $2 buyer fee) instead of the 20% they were making before…. There’s really no end to the greed. Done with that app.
This is ridiculous!! What stupid person thinking they are smart to fool us!? Your stupid protection fee is preventing sales!! That horrible for buyers and sellers!! I just stopped a purchase because it was $6 more than I calculated, come to find out it’s Poshmark stupid decision to change their policy!!
Stopped using Mercari when they did this, and now I’m stopping Poshmark.
eBay is still the best
I closed my PM account yesterday due to “sales tax payment processing fee” making my small purchase $4.38 more expensive. I now simply cannot afford to continue buying on a whim from PM. This move by PM is going to really help my budget!!!
I was buying too much anyway. When you make several purchases and add in those fees forget it. I’ll have to be very picky or eBay it is. Bummer, because I’ve liked Poshmark till now. I’ve felt good about giving money to people rather than big business. But greed gets all buisnesses big or small it seems.
This will force sellers to lower their prices in order to satisfy this buyer protection fee. I buy and sell on p.m. my $54 purchase this morning had $10.61 Fees tax and buyer protection. 6.46 was this new buyer protection fee. Seller already gives free shipping and lowered the price of the item from $60 to $54 with free shipping to get the sale. The other item I was going to buy the seller didn’t budge so I didn’t buy . That’s how it will end up working now. If the item is desirable it will sell no matter what. If you’re using p.m. to clearance what you don’t sell on other platforms (I personally don’t like that practice at all because it hurts the sellers and the platform that use this platform as primary )then you’ll be forced to stop doing that . I’ve been a reseller part time for 4 decades. I love the hunt. PM became my favorite platform In The last couple of years because I started moving away from the antique market and pottery and into clothing as well as the ease of the system. I constantly hear other sellers say they use PM as their clearance it out platform and so Although I don’t like the new fees I won’t give up. I think PM should remove your listings if you’ve not been active for months on end. If you haven’t sold it donate it back garage sale it give it away but get the item off the platform. There’s so much on the platform that congests the platform and sits . If you haven’t sold it in a year you probably aren’t going to .
I won’t give up. I am always reevaluating is this item worth my time. I’ll keep doing that and understand that there’s a new factor in place. Unfortunately the things in my closet will also be reevaluated on the pricing and the offers I make because I now have to consider the extra cost to the buyer, so that will cut into my net profit. Maybe on some items there won’t be a profit so it will come off my taxes when I either sell it at a loss donate it back or it’s a wash. But perseverance is my middle name.
As I’m mostly a purchaser, not a buyer on Poshmark, this fee seems like it’s shooting itself in the foot. I just went to buy something, saw the new fees, and decided not to and bought a similar item on depop. They say it’s under the guize of “protecting the buyer,” but the buyer could just price it higher if they wanted more money. All this is going to do is increase cart abandonment.
I am no longer a buyer on Poshmark due to the new fees for the buyer.
I have spent close to 10K on Poshmark since early 2021, but I won’t buy again unless the buyer fees are removed. Item cost, sales tax, shipping – that’s all I’m paying. I’ve deleted the app. This is terrible for buyers which makes it terrible for sellers, immediately, with no warning. Really crappy treatment of people making money for Poshmark. I do not want to support it and I won’t.
Exactly…falsely claiming things are better when it is only better for the business and those financially gaining from it.
I got an offer from a seller for $2 less and accepted. I had no idea about the new policy because Poshmark said my settings didn’t include emailing me on policy changes. I ended up paying 12% more than the list price without knowing because it doesn’t show the new added fees in the accept counter offer step… the $2 less was useless and I paid much more than if I had just bought at list price 1 day earlier.
absolutely now hate selling and buying on Poshmark. This was the worst thing they could have done to this site. It used to be because it was classy and well organized and now it’s just an organization that’s greedy and taking away where people can barely afford to buy food.
