TikTok believe building trust begins with transparency. That’s why in April, they published their first-ever TikTok Shop Safety Report, providing visibility into our policies, and detailing our ongoing investment in tools, technologies, and people, to ensure the safety of our growing marketplace.
Today, the second TikTok Shop Safety Report has been published, which details their investment in keeping TikTok Shop safe, as well as sharing some specific data points that show how their investments in the trust and safety of the platform are paying off with significant results. It also includes TikTok’s robust end-to-end lifecycle to educate, enforce, and preserve the highest level of Intellectual Property Rights security.

TikTok Shop has invested more than $500 million in tools, technologies, and people to provide a safe and secure environment that allows the community to shop with confidence from discovery to purchase.
Listings & Accounts
TikTok Shop maintains a range of policies that apply to buyers, sellers, and creators, as well as their products, to keep our community safe. These policies and TikTok’s actions reflect their values and commitment to ensuring that we remain a trusted destination for online consumers. From January to June 2024, TikTok have:
- Rejected 20.4 million listings,
- Removed 124,000 restricted or prohibited products after listing,
- Deactivated the accounts of more than 2 million sellers and removed their products
- Removed e-commerce features from more than 500,000 creators.
Intellectual Property Rights
TikTok Shop takes a comprehensive end-to-end approach to IPR governance, with measures in place at each stage of the seller and creator lifecycle, mapping to the platform’s unique ecosystem, including steps they take to protect IPR both prior to and after product listing. Between July 2023 and June 2024,
- More than 5M products with potential infringements were prevented from going live,
- 497,026 products were proactively taken down after going live for IPR violations.
- TikTok removed 800K livestreams and videos for IPR infringements.
