New eBay conditions for pre-loved clothing

New eBay conditions for pre-loved clothing

eBay have announced three new conditions for pre-loved clothing, which will apply for UK and IE sellers.

We’re committed to the benefits of selling and buying pre-loved fashion, and its positive impact on our environment. To help simplify your selling experience and remove any hesitation buyers may have when shopping for pre-loved clothing, we’re excited to let you know that we’re expanding our item condition options for pre-loved clothing listings.

– eBay

Previously, when listing pre-loved clothing, you could only select ‘Used’ as the item condition. Starting on the 4th of February, 2025, you’ll have three options to pick from

  • Used – Excellent
  • Used – Good
  • Used – Fair
  • The existing ‘New with defects’ condition will also be renamed to ‘New with imperfections’

Used – GoodGently used with light signs of wear and/or visible flaws.
This item has been gently used and is in good condition. It might have a few signs of wear, but all imperfections should be shown and described in the seller’s listing.
Used – FairSignificantly visible flaws, heavy signs of wear, and/or missing or damaged components.
This item has significantly visible imperfections and signs of wear. All imperfections should be shown and described in the seller’s listing.

To view the entire list of categories that’ll receive these new conditions and for more information about what constitutes flaws, signs of wear, and imperfections, visit the Conditions for pre-loved clothing page

With these new options, eBay say that you’ll be able to provide your buyers with a clearer understanding of your item’s condition, helping to reduce the likelihood of returns due to condition-related issues.

Ready to perfect your pre-loved clothing listings?

Starting on the 4th of February, you can use eBay;s updated item conditions when creating or revising pre-loved clothing listings. Here are some important details you should know:

  • Once this change takes effect, all your existing ‘Used’ clothing listings will automatically update to ‘Used – Good’
  • You’ll need to review these listings to ensure the condition accurately reflects each item, and if necessary, revise your listings individually or in bulk to select the appropriate condition
  • If you use a third party provider to manage your listings, our new condition options will be available through their tools

Start preparing for this change by reviewing your listings to determine which new conditions best fits each item.

Once the new conditions are available, eBay are asking you to revise your listings as soon as possible, as accurate item conditions are crucial to minimising returns and ensuring your listings appear in the correct search category.
