Temu has been named one of the fastest-growing apps in the United Kingdom, achieving a 53% year-over-year growth in monthly active users, according to Similarweb’s Digital 100 Report.
Launched in the U.S. in September 2022, Temu expanded to Europe in 2023 and now operates in more than 80 markets worldwide. Its business model focuses on reducing intermediaries in the supply chain, lowering costs, and passing savings on to consumers.
The report ranks Temu as the second-fastest-growing app in the UK, with monthly active users rising from 6.5 million in 2023 to 9.9 million in 2024. Globally, the platform also recorded significant growth. In Australia, Temu.com was the fastest-growing website with a 72% year-over-year increase in monthly unique visitors. France and Germany also saw notable increases, with Germany’s website usage reaching 15.1 million average monthly unique users in 2024, up 37% from the previous year.
The Digital 100 Report highlights brands demonstrating substantial digital growth. Rankings are based on web traffic and app usage estimates, with analysts applying minimum criteria and manual filtering to identify key examples of performance improvement.
Top App Recognition
Temu was also recognized as one of Apple’s top apps for 2024. App Store data indicates that the platform was the most downloaded iPhone app in 25 out of Apple’s some 30 localized markets, including the UK.
Since its UK launch in April 2023, Temu has offered a broad range of products. A study by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) estimated that direct-from-factory marketplaces like Temu could help UK households save up to £3,000 annually.
Local-to-Local Initiative Expands
Temu is increasing its focus on local sellers and warehouse fulfillment in the UK. The company aims to have 50% of its UK sales from local sellers and warehouses by the end of 2025. Across Europe, up to 80% of total sales are expected to come from this local-to-local model. European-based sellers are also expected to gain access to global markets through Temu’s platform in the future.
Temu has implemented local seller and warehouse dispatch services in European countries including Germany, France, Spain, and Italy, and across other markets such as the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Japan. This strategy is designed to reduce delivery times and enhance product availability while supporting local businesses.
