TikTok have informed sellers of an update for the TikTok Shop Order Cancellation, Return and Refund Policy that may affect your account if you use the “Ship by Seller” method for your orders.
Starting on the 10th of January 2025, all sellers that use the “Ship by Seller” shipping method will reimburse the shipping fees a customer has paid, when customers request a return and refund . Previously, TikTok Shop could agree to cover this fee for sellers using “Ship by Seller”. The situation for sellers that use “Ship by TikTok” will not be changed.
TikTok Shop Policy change
- Current Policy: When customers return a product using the change-of-mind return, the initial shipping fee (the fee paid by the customer to ship the product from the sellers warehouse) that they have paid for their order must be compensated. Previously, TikTok Shop could agree with the seller to cover these costs when customers choose to make a change-of-mind return for “Ship by Seller” orders.
- New Policy: From January 10th, 2025, for all orders shipped using the “Ship by Seller” method, sellers will always be fully responsible for reimbursing customers the initial shipping fee that they have paid for their order in all return and refund scenarios, including change-of-mind returns.
Impact
- You will be required to reimburse the product price together with the forward shipping fee paid by the customer in case of a customer return, regardless of whether the return is due to a seller fault or a customer’s change of mind.
- These amounts will be deducted from your settlement account as part of the refund settlement process.
