New eBay downloadable VAT invoices for sellers

New eBay downloadable VAT invoices for sellers

eBay are to introduce an easier invoicing process. Sellers can automatically download VAT invoices, while providing buyers with accessible VAT receipts.

By allowing buyers to self-serve, eBay are aiming to help to reduce the number of requests received by sellers, while making it easier to maintain accounting records.

As this trial is rolled out, it will only be available by request until further notice. To opt-in to downloadable VAT invoices, simply complete this form. To opt-out of this service, or for any questions, contact: [email protected]

Duplicate Invoices

It’s important to understand that if you currently generate your own invoices for your records, eBay also generating an invoice and VAT receipt on your behalf would result in a duplicate invoice.

Duplicate invoices could cause issues with your VAT accounting and potentially double your VAT liabilities, so it’s essential to ensure that such duplicates don’t occur.

During this trial, it will only be possible to cancel the eBay generated invoice in the case of credits or returns. This means that you would have to cancel your non-eBay invoice in the event that two invoices are generated for the same transaction.
