The Royal Mail Business Price guide coming into effect on the 31st of March has been published, and there are significant increases that you’ll want to be aware of if you purchase your postage on account.
In the March 2025 Royal Mail Business Price guide, the cost of postage on both BPL and UNG is rising, for instance:
- BPL 100g 1st Class Letter cost will increase from £1.34 to £1.70
- UNG 100g 1st Class Letter cost will increase from £1.24 to £1.67
- BPL 100g Large Letter from £1.86 to £2.79
- UNG 100g Large Letter from £1.76 to £2.65
- BPL 2kg Small Parcel rises from £3.99 to £4.19
- BPL 2kg Medium Parcel rises from £5.49 to £5.85

Fault charge rises in Royal Mail Business Price Guide
In addition to postage cost increases, Royal Mail are also increasing fines (they call them ‘Faults charges’). You’ll really want to keep on top of these as something as simple as a missing sales order will result in a per item charge for every piece of mail sent that day! The fines from the 31st of March 2025 will be:
- Barcode not seen on 1st Class and 2nd Class Letter fine reduces from 10p per item to 3p
- Barcode not seen on 1st Class and 2nd Class Large Letter fine rises from 10p per item to 14p
- Sales order underdeclared – UK for 1st Class Letter fine rises from £1.34 per item to £1.70
- Sales order underdeclared – UK for 1st Class Letter fine unchanged at 85p per item
- Sales order underdeclared – UK for 1st Class Large Letter fine rises from £2.60 per item to £3.39
- Sales order underdeclared – UK for 2nd Class Large Letter fine rises from £1.81 per item to £1.91
- Incorrect Format LL=P 1st Class and 2nd Class on all formats the fine rises from £4.50 to £5.50
