What did I learn at the Pinterest x Primark homeware launch?

What did I learn at the Pinterest x Primark homeware launch?

Tuesday evening this week saw me in London for the official press launch of the first Pinterest inspired Primark homeware range. While there, I learned a number of interesting things, not necessarily covered in the initial article that you can read here.

Firstly, who knew that there was a fantastic Primark homeware range? Me? No, I thought Primark was all about the clothes! I plead ignorance on the basis that my local Primark in Newbury isn’t due to open until April 2025… so next month I’ll be heading down their to explore exactly what Primark sell. If you’ve not seen it though, they’ve got some beautiful pieces and I absolutely adore their cushions!

Then…. well Pinterest Collages are amazing. But they are so much better when brought to life with the actual products. The Dainty Décor and Cosy Cottage collages captured my attention (yes I know there was also the Minamaluxe but it’s unfair of you to expect me to have more than two out of three favourties!). This is the intersection of where Pinterest really does meet retail and you see what’s on the page spring into real life and I love it!

But perhaps the most surprising part of the evening (and I guess it shouldn’t have been) was to learn that the Primark design team spend much of their working lives on Pinterest. This partnership to launch the Primark homeware range was no accident, all of Primark’s trend research in Pinterest based anyway.

What really made this event special however was the collaboration between Primark and Pinterest to curate three distinct styles especially for Primark and then bring them to life with products that you can waltz into a Primark today and buy.

What I really need is a Pinterest Masterclass to help me with inspiration to make my home my dream space, and if that’s also you then you can head down to one of four Primark stores for a free Pinterest Collage masterclass throughout March.

  • Oxford Street East – Tottenham Court Road – 8th and 9th March
  • Belfast – 15th and 16th March
  • Liverpool – 22nd and 23rd March
  • Glasgow – 28th and 29th March

The real lesson here though is that your customers looking for inspiration are probably on Pinterest, and if you’re designing products you need to take note and be delving into Pinterest trends in order to deliver what your customers are dreaming of. And then once you’ve turned your trends into products you need to be back on Pinterest making sure your customers are finding your products because there’s a pretty good chance that if your products end up on their mood board then they could end up in their shopping basket too!
