TikTok Shop Intellectual Property Rights Safety Report

TikTok have released their third TikTok Shop Safety Report (covering the second half of 2024), which details our investment in keeping TikTok Shop safe, as well as sharing some specific data points that show how our investments in the trust and safety of the platform are paying off with significant results. It also includes our robust end-to-end lifecycle to educate, enforce, and preserve the highest level of Intellectual Property Rights security.

TikTok Shop Safety Report Highlights

In building their community of millions of sellers on TikTok Shop, TikTok have put a huge focus on safety and security so our community can have positive shopping experiences.

TikTok Shop has invested nearly $1 billion in tools, technologies, and people to provide a safe and secure environment that allows our community to shop with confidence from discovery to purchase.

TikTok Shop maintains a range of policies that apply to buyers, sellers, and creators, as well as their products, to keep the community safe. These policies and our actions reflect TikTok’s values and commitment to ensuring that they remain a trusted destination for online consumers. From July to December 2024, they:

  • Rejected more than 50 million listings.
  • Removed more than 90K restricted or prohibited products after listing.
  • Deactivated the accounts of more than 450K sellers and removed their products.
  • Removed e-commerce features from more than 700K creators.

TikTok Shop takes a comprehensive end-to-end approach to IPR governance, with measures in place at each stage of the seller and creator lifecycle, mapping to our platform’s unique ecosystem, including steps we take to protect IPR both prior to and after product listing. Between July 2023 and June 2024,

  • More than 7.5M products with potential infringements were prevented from going live.
  • More than 450K products were proactively taken down after going live for IPR violations.
  • TikTok removed 675K livestreams and videos for IPR infringements.

We will continue to update the TikTok Shop Safety Report going forward as part of our commitment to providing transparency. As TikTok Shop grows, so too will this report. We will expand upon what is included, and listen to and address the feedback of the TikTok Shop community and other stakeholders.
