Sociallyin have released a comprehensive new analysis of global social media trends, revealing that social media usage has reached an all-time high, with 5.07 billion people now actively using social platforms worldwide, representing more than half of the global population and 93% of all internet users.

Record-Breaking Growth and Engagement

The latest data shows dramatic increases in user engagement, with average daily social media usage climbing from 90 minutes in 2012 to 143 minutes in 2024, a nearly 60% increase. This surge reflects the platform’s growing integration into daily life and business operations globally.

The numbers speak to a fundamental shift in how people communicate, consume content, and conduct business. We’re witnessing an unprecedented level of digital connectivity that’s reshaping society and commerce.

TikTok has emerged as the fastest-growing platform, expanding from 465.7 million users in 2020 to 900.8 million in 2024, with particular strength among younger demographics aged 10-19.

Future Projections and Emerging Trends
