Since launching the B&Q Marketplace the aim has always been to extend their click and collect service to items bought from third-party sellers and they’ve only gone and done it!
Admittedly this is currently a trial running initially as a pilot at the company’s Fareham store before a wider, phased rollout across 300 B&Q stores. But this makes sense – you definitely want to test a service like this before rolling it out nationwide to iron out any unexpected kinks in the service. But the good news – customers of B&Q’s marketplace can choose from more than 2 million home improvement and garden products from more than 2,000 third-party sellers on the platform.
Ever since launching B&Q Marketplace in March 2022, it’s been our ambition to extend our click and collect service to items bought from third-party sellers.
I’m delighted that this week we have successfully launched a pilot of our Marketplace click and collect service and aim to extend it to 300 stores by October.– Graham Bell, CEO, B&Q
B&Q already offers a return-to-store service for customers at diy.com, which allows them to return purchases from third-party sellers at B&Q stores.
It’s great to be launching this new service and to be extending our in-store collection services to customers buying from B&Q’s third-party marketplace sellers at diy.com. Around 90% of our customers begin their shopping experience on the web, and we’re seeing strong conversion of digital customers into store footfall as a result.”
Marketplace click and collect will give our customers even more convenience by further seamlessly integrating the online and in-store shopping experience. Our third-party sellers benefit too by being able to offer their customers more delivery options and access to customers who prefer to pick up their orders in store.
